Designed by the “Golden Bear”, Jack Nicklaus
This 18 hole, Par 72 course set has to be one of the most unique Jack Nicklaus designed courses in the world.
"Tsismis" (pronounced "tizzmiz" - Filipino word for gossip) has it that the club was originally going to have 36 holes, with each nine being designed by Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson. On a site visit, however, Nicklaus turned to the owner and said, "I'll cut my fee in half if I can design the whole course."
Well it may only be gossip, but Nicklaus certainly ahs steered away from his usual wide fairways, greens and bunkers as this Course has been designed to provide real challenge with tee shots across water hazards and cogon grass lining the fairways.
You are going to need a great deal of accuracy to ensure a good score on this course - it's a "true" test of golf!
Set on a rolling landscape, this Course is an inland-links-type course with wide, well manicured fairways and large greens, white sand traps and nice fresh air.
When the wind comes into effect it provides a hefty challenge for all levels of play.
Ravines and water are used to good effect and the par 3’s are surrounded by bunkers that will punish poor shots.
The long par 4’s are deceptive and challenging, and will ensure that you will have to think carefully about your golf.
The par 5’s are good for long hitters but the strategic golfer may have better rewards as he understands the way that Nicklaus has set out these holes.
The front 9 holes are tricky and can be difficult if the wind picks up. The back 9 by contrast is more scenic and allows you to relax a little more as you turn for home.
Hole 16 is the signature hole; a picturesque 192-yard par-3 that plays around ten yards uphill. The tee shot plays over a ravine and must negotiate two tiers of bunkers lying short and left.
Make sure you hone your swing in the driving range and practice chipping and putting green before getting started.
Tee houses are located along the fairway for your convenience.
Only when you have played at this course will you be able to appreciate why so many regard it as one of the very best Courses in Asia!
